Happy National Housewife’s Day today to all you Moms that stay at home and clean, cook, and take care of your family. My dream has always been to be able to stay at home with my kiddos, I work two little part time jobs to help supplement my husband’s income. It isn’t easy, though, to always make ends meet-here are┬ámy top 3 ways to save money!

  1. Set a budget
    1. Sometimes it kind of stinks to have to set limits on yourself, but you can save A TON if you are able to do it. My husband and I sat down and looked at what we spent the previous month and separated the expenses into different categories. We used Gas, Groceries, Out to eat, Health, Monthly expenses (ie. mortgage payment, insurance payment, electricity, water).
    2. When we first started we worked the envelope system for all the groceries. In our house we set aside $300 a month for groceries. So each week I took out $75 and put it an envelope and back into my purse. When I spent all the money for the week I was done. I only had to do this for a month or two to figure out what I could afford each week and was able to go back to using my debit card. If you need a reminder of what you can spend-just take another month whenever you feel like you are spending to much
  2. Use uGrocery.com
    1. uGrocery helps save me money each week by telling me the best place to use my coupons, and the best place to buy all my groceries as well.
      1. My favorite way to use uGrocery is when I’m out of a product-before I throw it away-I scan it and enter it into my grocery list. When I’m ready to go grocery shopping I then enter in all the other groceries that I will need for my weekly menu and simply hit “find lowest bill”
      2. By doing this I am able to save quite a bit of money just by knowing where to shop the best deals that match my families personal needs.
  3. Take advantage of cash back apps
    1. One way to help save money for your groceries is using cash back apps. There are so many different apps out there, but here are some of my favorite
      1. Ibotta.com
      2. Berrycart.com
      3. Checkout 51
      4. Mobisave

Hopefully these ways help you save money like it has for our family!
